Showing the way at all stations

Every day NS transports roughly a million passengers on five thousand train journeys passing through around 320 stations. Wayfinding at the stations is essential and helps NS to realise its goal of transporting passengers safely, comfortably and on time via attractive stations.

Our task was to develop and implement a new signage and wayfinding system at these stations. It was essential that the new system was tested thoroughly and that implementation at all stations could be carried out quickly.

We set ourselves the aim of developing and testing a completely new system within a year and of implementing it within the space of two years.

Thorough project management

To realise this ambition, we asked for commitment at board level and got together around the table on a weekly basis with the three collaborating design agencies. In this way we ensured the necessary level of engagement with the project and did not allow its progress to be put at risk at any time. The project ran like clockwork.
