HEMA is a leading department store selling low-priced everyday items. Characteristics of HEMA include simplicity, clarity, quality and honesty. HEMA is now active in 5 countries and receives more than 4,000,000 visitors a week to its 400+ stores.
At the same time as launching its new corporate identity, HEMA also wanted to introduce an easy-to-manage correspondence system. We were asked to select and introduce this. In addition, we were also given the task of bringing all templates currently being used into line with the new corporate identity. As there was no correspondence system in place, this was a labour-intensive operation. HEMA asked us to find a solution to make this task simpler, both now and in the future.
In a workshop with so-called ‘frequent users’, we went through all the wishes and requirements and documented these in a functional description. From this it emerged that there was also a need for a solution for presentations and an e-mail signature. Based on our experience of decentralised organisations, we proposed a web-based system. This means that it is not necessary to install software across the board and an internet connection is all that is required. In this way HEMA is able to provide access to the correspondence system simply to all branches and business units in the Netherlands and abroad. Changes and updates can also be implemented easily, guaranteeing a uniform corporate identity.
The system was set up together with the programmers on the basis of the functional description and implemented with HEMA’s IT department. A clear user card was also produced in various languages, of course. Since the implementation, NykampNyboer has been making sure that any questions that HEMA has are answered quickly via its help and service desk.
